Our film certification

After extensive research into the rules and regulations of film certification as a group we have deliberated and chosen the appropriate one for our final film.
Te rating we have chosen to use for a film is a 12A due to the following reasons...
A key scene in our film is when our main character ava sustains a knife wound this is therefor perhaps the main reason for the rating of our film. The BBFC's websites policy on violence for the certificates 15, 12/12A & 15 are listed below.

PG
Moderate violence, without detail, may be allowed, if justified by its context (for example, history, comedy or fantasy).

12/12A
Moderate violence is allowed but should not dwell on detail. There should be no emphasis on injuries or blood, but occasional gory moments may be permitted if justified by the context. Sexual violence may only be implied or briefly and discreetly indicated, and must have a strong contextual justification.

15
Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. The strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable. Strong sadistic or sexualised violence is also unlikely to be acceptable. There may be detailed verbal references to sexual violence but any portrayal of sexual violence must be discreet and have a strong contextual justification.

based on these rules our film would not be able to feature our key scene at a PG certificate this is because the certification  does not allow for violence unless it is justified strongly by its context for either comical or historic reasons. A more appropriate cert to use would be 15 as it allows for strong violence to be used. The problem with this cert however is that it would drastically reduce the audience for our film as the main theme would normally be associated with the under 15 age group. The 12/12A compensates for these issues by allowing for some moderate violence so long as we dont feature too heavily on the injury witch is not something we intended to do anyway.
