Style of Film

As our film is a modern take on Cinderella, we decided not to make it too sloppy, as it wouldn't appeal as much to our target audience. All films have a certain "style", whether it' erotic, comedic, sloppy or hard hitting.

An idea for the style of our film, which would include a change of music and editing. The film, "Inglourious Basterds" has inpired me to make our film in the same style. In the video below, there is a short clip of Hugo Stiglits who was a Nazi Sgt.who hated Nazis and murdered 13 Gestapo officers. When this is being shown in the film, with the holocaust being a delicate subject, the style is unexpected as the music and editing is hard hitting and ruthless, therefore slightly comedic, for example: when he strangles his first victim with wirem he's calmly smoking a cigarette at the same time. When he murders another by putting a pillow over his head and stabbing him, the gestapo officer simply looks surprised rather than scared whiel Stiglitiz is laughing. In addition, the music is a rock track which you wouldn't expect to be played over a scene like this.

This idea could be used in the bullying scene of our film.

However, another clip of the film at the end shows Shosanna and Frederik's death scene. Though throughout the film it has had the same continuous, brutal style, at this point, everything turns. The music is sad and emotional when they're both shot, along with slow motion within the scene of the cinema blowing up with the Jews shooting at Hitler. This change in style is very hard hitting and grabs the attention of the audience as unexpected; making it a good film.

This idea could be used at the end when Ava is stabbed.
