This short
film is about a man that is seen as a monster because of how vile and
irritating he is to other members of staff in the work place.
Firstly we
see a close up shot of the main character, then the close up shot cuts into a
medium close up shot which shows ‘the monster’ in the foreground. This shot is
effective because it shows the setting and introduces the characters.
Throughout the film we see extreme close up shots of the main character to show
the audience his anger and frustration towards the monster.
The lighting
is good in all areas of the film as it is dim and well coloured for the setting
of the workplace. Sometimes we can see that the monster has a half shaded face
which implies that he has a dark or mysterious side, and in this case he does.
The sound in
the film is decent throughout and it is really good when there is a mixture of
dialogue all scrambled together when the monster is talking to represent how the
main character is taking in what he is saying which is a really effective
technique. Also there is non-diegetic high key music which increases the
tension when the monster turns evil.
The story is
linear and flows in time. The editing used is to a great standard and each
scene is cut precisely.
The blood
effect is good when he kills the monster, because it squirts onto his shirt and
we can actually see this taking place.
The props in
the film are good for instance the computers and stapler and general
surroundings set the scene as a typical workplace. Also the acting in the film
is pretty good as all the characters are clear and are therefore easy to
understand.
Overall the film is good and is entertaining towards the end, I like how relatable it is (excluding the final scene) and the cinematography and sound is very good and I would like to use a similar approach to our own film.
