Our Final genre Idea
For our final idea, we have decided to choose the genre, Fairy Tale Adaptations, but ours will be a modern adaptation of a legendary fairy tale. Here are the classic Brothers Grimm stories we are using for inspiration:
Snow White
Cinderella
Beauty and the Beast
Rapunzel
Little Red Cap
Sleeping Beauty
The Frog Prince
Goldielocks and the Three Bears
Hansel and Gretel
Rumpelstilitskin
The Little Mermaid
Alice in Wonderland
Skrek
Aladdin
Thumbelina
All of these classic stories have many aspects in common which make them unique and enjoyable, which is why we are choosing this genre to create our own enjoyable film.
Every fairy tale has:
A villain
A hero/heroin
Royalty
Poverty
A helper/s
An antagonist
A moral
Magic/Enchantments
For our modern day adaptation, which we have chosen to do to attract our target audience as it will connect more with the audience (age between 15-30). We will avoid the use of magic as in the 21st century, nobody believes in magic. Additionally, we would swap the use of poverty and royalty for working class families who are either survival-realistic or materialistic, which is a more realistic aspect than kings and paupers.
